Wetlands also support rare and endangered species and provide a safe habitat for beaver, muskrat, migratory birds and spawning fish. Some mammals such as beaver, moose and muskrat are important to the fur trade and millions of game birds and fish are raised in and around our wetlands. Without wetlands some wildlife species would disappear.

Wetlands are one of the best places to enjoy nature. Listen to a chorus of frogs and toads, peek at some underwater plants, check the rocks for sunbathing reptiles, or catch some tiny water insects. The best thing you can do for wetlands is spread the word about what fascinating places they are.
