A cement footing of the dam of the original mill can still be seen on the mill pond island. The mill race ran alongside the island.

The mill pond also had another purpose; people gathered there to have fun, much as they do now. People could be seen boating and skating on the pond. Nowadays the bush around the pond is filled with trails to walk, ducks to feed, and adventures to be had.
